St Mary's Church Hall

Over five years ago St Mary's Church in The Walk, Potters Bar launched a fund raising appeal for the refurbishment of their Hall. Massive costs were involved for the replacement of parts of the roof, removal of the stage, which had become hazardous and modernisation of the toilets including one for the disabled. A considerable amount of money has been raised from holding social events, such as Barn Dances, Quiz Nights, a Magic Night, Attic Sales and Auctions and we thank all those who have supported us or who have made donations. However, the work is not yet complete and our fund raising will have to continue for some time yet. The Hall is an asset to the local community, providing an ideal venue for activities such as those listed above and also for Keep Fit groups, Badminton clubs, Parties and Meetings.

St Mary's Church Hall was built between 1914 and 1916 and is therefore nearly 100 years old. The main Hall has great character with a beautifully constructed roof made of oak timbers. There is an adjoining smaller Hall of similar style and a fully fitted kitchen. The refurbishment has been carried out in keeping with the style of the old building and where possible some of the original woodwork has been reused. It would have been a great loss to the community if this beautiful old building had fallen into decline. Please continue to support our fund raising events which are listed on our website. Do get in touch if you would like to hire this facility.
