St Mary’s supports the following charities:

Our annual Christingle service is one of the main ways in which we support the work of this charity. Also regular box openings are held so that supporters can donate saved coins.

Since 1990 St Mary’s has supported a project run by the USPG (United Society for the Propogation of the Gospel). Our project initially was the House of the Epiphany Theological College in Kuching, Sarawak. That project ceased in 1992 when nationals took over support of the college.

We then commenced our support of Muheza Hospital in Tanzania. This hospital is in north-east Tanzania in the foothills of the eastern Usambara mountains. It is in a rural area some 40km from the port of Tanga and serves the local population. The hospital is permanently overcrowded and essential drugs and equipment are always in short supply. Malaria and measles, both preventable diseases are a huge problem as is HIV/AIDS. For more information on this project please click here.

The hospital also runs a training school for nurses.

Christmas collections are used in support of the needy and homeless.

St Mary’s also supports Christ Church, and the Archdeacon George Memorial Nursery and Secondary School, Serrekunda, The Gambia.

Many other charities are supported by individual church members.
