Church Groups - St Mary’s Choir

St Mary’s choir is a friendly group of singers of mixed ages, which leads the worship at St Mary’s.

Additional opportunities arise from time to time, such as performances of major choral works, and visits to sing in other churches. Occasionally the church holds major services which involve other choirs joining our own. The most recent such event was the Service of Prayer and Reflection on Sunday 19 May 2002, held for the victims of the Potters Bar rail crash. Our own choir was joined by choristers from Christ Church, Little Heath, King Charles the Martyr, South Mimms, the United Reformed Church, Potters Bar, and members of the Potters Bar Choral Society.

Usually any soloist required is drawn from our own choir rather than from outside. Two of our soloists have given recitals at our regular Lunchtime concerts which occur every first Tuesday of each month. Another sings frequently with other choirs in the district, with whom he has performed in churches and cathedrals throughout Britain.

We are keen to recruit further members particularly so that we can increase our repertoire. Any voices are welcome, especially Altos and Tenors. No auditions are necessary.
