Stations of the Cross

The 14 pictures that make up the Stations of the Cross depict Jesus’ final journey from His judgment by Pontius Pilate to His crucifixion, death and resurrection. The first station is in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Following stations run anticlockwise so that numbers 7 and 8 are on the west wall and number 14 is in the All Souls’ Chapel.

First Station
Jesus is condemned before Pilate

Second Station
Jesus is given his cross

Third Station
Jesus falls for the first time

Fourth Station
Jesus meets his mother

Fifth Station
Simon of Cyrene is forced to carry Jesus’ cross

Sixth Station
Veronica wipes the face of Jesus

Seventh Station
Jesus falls for the second time

Eighth Station
Jesus consoles the women of
Jerusalem

Ninth Station
Jesus falls for the third time

Tenth Station
Jesus is stripped of his clothing

Eleventh Station
Jesus is nailed to the cross

Twelfth Station
Jesus dies on the cross

Thirteenth Station
Jesus is taken down from the cross
